How Technology Can (and Will) Solve Outsourcing-Related Issues

The gig economy, though continuously evolving, is not going away. Each day it becomes more obvious that things need to change because the inefficiencies of business hold us back. A top priority for all companies in the next few years needs to be to adjust to the realities of the business world. Those companies that use technology to appropriately position themselves for adaptation in the future are those who will have a competitive advantage.

There’s no question that business has changed – take supply chain management as an example. The complicated system of moving products to end consumers has been emphasized and studied in such detail that its management has become a very popular college major and growing career choice. Supply chain management software platforms identify and help resolve inefficiencies on the operational side of a business, saving vital time and money for the company. Why don’t we think about human capital management in the same way? Though they haven’t yet reached the popularity of other software management platforms, human resource management solutions exist – and they’re proving that companies who align their staffing strategy with the way business has changed are better positioned to take on bigger and better opportunities.

It’s completely reasonable for a manager to worry about hiring an outsider to work on a project. How does one know that this person is qualified to do the job? How does one warrant and measure productivity? Where do you find the right person?

Talent management platforms generally associate with a talent marketplace, which is a place where potential candidates sit ready to hire. The talent marketplace may be specific to an industry, type of task, or company, but they’re one and the same when it comes to purpose: a visual library of potential workers. Features such as badges and filters can easily identify which candidates are qualified for a position. Rating systems incentivize workers to do their best, most productive work and easily identify top talent for employers. Task management functionality shows who was assigned to which jobs, where, and when.

Complicated, outdated worker tracking “systems” usually consist of numerous excel sheets attempting to keep track of which employee worked which hours at which location. Employee tracking, budget reports, and event scheduling are all examples of common inefficiencies that many businesses face – yet do nothing to improve. With talent management platforms like AllWork, a manager can easily centralize all of this information, and more, to easily view all human capital related business activity.

AllWork’s platform focuses on the retail industry specifically. Its software is the easiest way to find, manage, and pay freelancers on the retail floor. By incorporating AllWork, brands and retailers sell more because it’s easier to staff the right talent in the right stores at the right time. Talent is prequalified so that job-matching can occur quickly. All management tools from time sheets to productivity reporting to personal messaging are consolidated into a single interface on the platform. Payment tools ensure managers need not worry about legal compliance or benefit programs.

New functionality arises frequently, as new business needs are identified, so efficiency continues to grow. For example, retail managers reported fraudulent timesheet reporting by some employees, so we added a GPS tracking feature to verify check in and check out.

Smart managers need to realize they cannot adjust their business according to the people who work for them – they must adjust the people according to the business. Talent management technology takes the guesswork out of it.
